AMDA 2025 Conference

Detroit Institute of Arts

June 8 – June 12, 2025

Hello Friends,

Our June agenda is coming together, and I’d like to encourage you to REGISTER FOR THE AMDA CONFERENCE at this link: https://amdaconference.org/amda-2025-conference/.

Some conference highlights include:

Michael Moody, presenting from his book Generation Impact – 21/64
Attendees will receive a book and a Best Practice guide to this work!

Michael is Professor of Philanthropic Studies at the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy at Indiana University. Prior to this, he was the first holder of the Frey Foundation Chair for Family Philanthropy at the Johnson Center for Philanthropy at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Trained as a cultural sociologist, with a Ph.D. from Princeton, Dr. Moody is co-author of the best-selling books Understanding Philanthropy: Its Meaning and Mission, The Philanthropy Reader, and Generation Impact: How Next Gen Donors Are Revolutionizing Giving. He is a frequent speaker and sought-after commentator on philanthropic trends whose work has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post, Forbes, Chronicle of Philanthropy, Stanford Social Innovation Review, and many others.

Anne Bergeron, presenting on Naming Buildings After Philanthropic Donors: Is It Ethical?

Widely published on this topic, Anne is a former AMDA member who has served as interim deputy director at the University of California, Irvine’s Langson Institute and Museum of California Art; managing director of Brown University’s Arts Initiative; associate director of external affairs at Dallas Museum of Art; and director of institutional and capital development at Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.

Also, private collection tours, cool Detroit venues, foodie experiences, and art art art!

I’d love to have a big pre-pandemic turnout in 2025, so we should all sign up!

Best,
Nina Sapp
